Mike Connolly plays guitar, bass and mandolin in Seven Rings. Raised on 70's hard rock bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Rush, Mike started playing electric guitar when he was 13. In high school and college, Mike played in a couple of garage bands that barely made it out of the garage (FreeFall, On The Roxx, & The Cronies). Even with his emphasis on hard rock, several of his favorite guitarists - most obviously Jimmy Page - explored traditional folk music and melded it with heavier rock. It wasn't until 2001 that Mike started to become interested in traditional celtic music and began playing it a couple years later. He began tinkering with the mandolin in 2005. Mike also plays guitar in a classic rock band called Somethin' Like That. When he's not playing music, Mike works in historic preservation in Delaware and Pennsylvania.
